UPDATE JANUARY 2013 : Café Nico is no longer in business.
Cafe Nico is my Sunday afternoon cafe, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good cafe latte away from the busy tourist area of Bikan.
The cafe occupies a small commercial building in the middle of a residential area. It’s not too far from the station, but it’s definitely out of the way. There is very chance you would find this place if you were wandering about town.
Cafe Nico is small, nicely decorated, quiet and cosy. I always order coffee, but they also offer lunch and dinner. The lunch menu has pasta and curry on the menu. The coffee is quite good and their cheese cake is simply to die for.
There is not much else to say, minimal goodness is a rarity and I think that Cafe Nico is the perfect place to sit and relax in the Starbucks universe.
The area near Nico is about to become one of the busiest in Okayama prefecture with the opening of the Ario shopping center and the Mitsui outlet which are both located in the old Tivoli Park in front of Kurashiki station. Let’s hope that going to Nico doesn’t become a major pain.
If you miss your old neighborhood coffee shop, Cafe Nico might be what you are looking for.
