Our hotel happened to be located a minute from the famous and very busy Capitol Satay Restaurant which specializes in Satay Celup.
Capitol Satay opens at 4 PM. I went there at 4h05 and people had started coming in. Satay celup is hard to describe, imagine a fondue with burning hot satay gravy where you can dip a wide variety of fresh food.
There is boiling pot of satay sauce in the middle of the table and you get to pick whatever ingredient you want in a huge fridge.
The satay sauce was spicy. If you have a weak palate, you might want to pass on this one. The second option would be to ask for a container of water to rince off some of the satay sauce.
I had a very small meal at Capitol Satay just to try it out, but I can understand why this place is packed all the time.
I just love the concept and the taste.
Capitol Satay is big on stating the obvious.
At 1.20 ringgit it’s a great deal.
During my very brief visit, I did not try the pricier items on the menu. They had gigantic shrimps.
If you visit Melaka or Malacca, I think that going to eat satay celup is a must.
Depending on how you feel about waiting line, I do recommend getting there early.
If you had tried other satay celup spot, just let me know in the comment section.
