Hinata is far away from the tourist area of central Kurashiki, but the trip to the service road of route 2 is worth the effort.

We went to Hinata on a Wednesday night and this small restaurant was almost full.

We sat at the counter where I spent the rest of my meal admiring this great little kitchen.  The chef knows what he is doing and he does it  with precision and attention to details.

The chef works by himself with the help of two ladies who are busy setting the plates, waiting tables and washing dishes.

Hinata is a restaurant specialized in fried food.  The menu is separated into sections: chicken, pork, beef, hamburger steak, omelette and rice and sea food.

It’s also possible to order many combinations and non of the set menu is more than 1500 yen.

I ordered the fried shrimps.

The fried shrimp was cooked to perfection and it was served with salad, pasta, a big plate of rice and miso soup.  The portions at Hinata are very generous.

My wife got the fried chicken.

The chicken was amazingly tender and fresh.  The sauce at Hinata like everything else is home made.

Hinata is a great find where a the chef pays a lot of attentions to the food he is preparing.  It’s a pleasure to watch such a small kitchen prepare some truly feel good food.

Hinata is a nice family friendly restaurant, and it perfect if you want to get out of the center of Kurashiki.  If you are driving,  they  have a couple of parking places.

Hinata is not a fancy restaurant, but the food is top notch.
