Kurashiki is seeing some sort of rejuvenation with a lot of building restoring their storefront, Scarecrow Coffee & More is giving new life to an old liquor store.
The shop is located a short distance away from the Bikan area and is almost next to Tweet Rocka.
The bare concrete floor and DIY plywood chic somehow makes this new coffee pretty Instagrammable to a certain kind of crowd. If you happen to identify yourself with that crowd, you will be super happy…
The central table was beautiful and the mismatched school chairs are a classic in Japan.
I went there right after lunch and ended up ordering a chocolate cake with a drip coffee.
The cake was dense and delicious. The coffee was hand dripped and the beans were from Besso coffee.
The lunch menu looked really interesting and I am curious about the banana muffin.
Scarecrow is new on the Kurashiki coffee scene and is a good respite if you want to get away from the heavily touristy Bikan area. The service was very friendly.
If you drive, Scarecrow has no parking.
