My hotel in Kuala Lumpur turned out to be only a couple of minutes from Shin Kee and after ready the great review of j2KFm, I had to try it.
The menu is pretty simple, 3 types of noodle and 3 beef options.
The noodle options are the following:
- Thin white noodles
- Medium yellow noodles
- Fat white noodles (rat tails)
The beef options:
- Just beef
- Beef balls
- Mix of balls, slices of beef and tripes.
When you order, you also have to decide if you want your noodles in a soup or dry.
I ordered the dry rat tails which is served with some kind of a meat sauce. It also came with a bowl of soup. Since I ordered the mix, it had beef, balls and tripes. It’s good stuff! The noodles are called Lou Shu Fun and the dry version is Kon Low.
My wife order the thin noodles with beef balls. Her noodles were great and the soup is simple and addictive.
The service at Shin Kee was friendly and I actually went back at the end of my trip in Malaysia to try the yellow noodles.
The restaurant is a couple meters from the entrance of Petaling street which is the main street of Chinatown. If you feel a bit overwhelmed by the touristy mayhem, I think you will enjoy the simpleness of Shin Kee.
As always, it’s not about how many items you have on your menu, but how well you can cook on dish.
