Cafe d’Esprit is a coffee shop and a coffee roaster which was recommended to me by a fellow Okayama coffee lover.

Café Gewa which is located in the Hayashi Genjuro building is so new, it looks like an ad for Architectural Digest despite having an hand written sign which looks like a cheap white board…
About two years ago, my wife took me to a restaurant called Always on the border of Kurashiki and Soja and I was simply blown away by the quality of their bread. On my way to the bathroom, I saw a poster for a bakery and I dragged my wife to see the poster, this is how I found Industry Bakery which lead me to Witches coffee shop which are both located in Soja almost in front of each other.
CoMA coffee was suggested to me by a fellow Okayama resident and it was a nice discovery. The sign in front of CoMa says The Cafe of Modern Apartment and it does strangely feel like you are drinking your coffee in a fancy living room.
Cafe Rosso was recommended to me 4 years ago by a fellow Canadian who lived in Yasugi and I am thankful until this day that she let me in on this coffee heaven.
UPDATE JANUARY 2013 : Café Nico is no longer in business.
Cafe Nico is my Sunday afternoon cafe, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good cafe latte away from the busy tourist area of Bikan.
Kaeru is the word for “frog” in Japanese and it’s also the name of a great little coffee shop in Okayama City. A local English teacher recommended this coffee shop, so I jumped on my bicycle and rode all the way from Kurashiki just to try it.
I drank my first Vietnamese coffee at café Lam when I arrived in Hanoi. The coffee shop is located on the outer edge of the old town and when we got there, the customers were spilling out on the sidewalk. I grabbed two small plastic stools and sat between two parked scooters.
I have walked in front of this discreet coffee shop on numerous occasions without really noticing it. Kurashiki Coffee-Kan is located right in the heart of the historic Bikan area of Kurashiki city in Okayama Prefecture. I think I might have found my little coffee heaven only 20 min from my house.
