Sushi Katsu is located right next to Kurashiki Chuo Hospital. The two are closely related in my mind since a sushi Katsu bento was the first thing I ate after my wife gave birth. It took a year, but I finally visited the restaurant that made that unforgettable bento box.

On my way back from the Bikan historical area of Kurashiki, I stumbled upon Chat Orange, a tiny little shop selling banh mi, bagel and hot wine. The combination might be a little bit odd,however, I ordered a banh mi out of pure curiosity.

Kakouken 華光軒 is an old Chinese restaurant very well hidden in a tiny alley behind Bic Camera. If you come from Okayama Station, the electronic store is located across the street on your left.

Ichiban Shokuji Dokoro or 一番食事処 is located in Mizushima part of Kurashiki. The shop name means “the best place to eat” They serve Hakata style ramen and it was recommended by somebody who is from Kyushu. If you are familiar with the area, it’s located a minute from the Tsutaya movie rental shop.

Tairyuken (大龍軒) is an old Chinese restaurant located in Kurashiki. The restaurant is only a few minutes from my house, but this is really out of the way if you are not from the Mizushima or Tamashima area.
