Tim Ho Wan is an Hong Kong institution and I decided to forgo of my “eating local” philosophy because the pork buns are simply amazing.
Tim Ho Wan became famous after receiving a Michelin Star, making it one of the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant in the world at the time. Tim Ho Wan is all about dim sum.
The Kuala Lumpur is conveniently located in the Mid Valley Shopping center. I’ve been to one of the Hong Kong shop and the Kuala Lumpur shop really not busy in comparison. I guess we went there at the right time.
The pork bun is an amazing mix of sweet and savoury.
The buns are amazing, but we ordered a bit more of course.
Spinach dim sum with enoki mushroom.
Vermicelli roll with prawn.
Glutinous rice in lotus leaf
We finished with the fried rice with XO sauce. My son loved that one.
Tim Ho Wan has some great food, I seriously wish I could eat everything on the menu. The Kuala Lumpur shop is a slicker version of the original Hong Kong shop. Tim Ho Wan is expanding worldwide with restaurants in Bangkok, Taipei and New York City. If you have a chance to visit, don’t forget to order the buns with BBQ pork.
