Fukuoka remains one of my favorite city in Japan and like everywhere, the coffee scene is blooming. During this very short stay, I decided to visit Tokado coffee. Too many coffee shops, not enough time.
Tokado is located in the basement of the Hakata Riverain Mall or pretty much in middle of Fukuoka between the station and Tenjin. The Riverain Mall is also the home of the Anpanman museum if you visit with kids.
Tokado is a coffee roaster, their roasting facility is located in Onojo, outside of Fukuoka city.
They offer their coffee according to the roasting level. I opted for a Sumatra.
The counter is a good place to watch the coffee preparation.
Tokado has a variety of cups.
The shop space has beans and other coffee making equipment.
Small wooden trays
While the mall location is a bit sterile, the Tokado space itself is very nice and the coffee was delicious.
If you are walking in the Kawabata shopping arcade, the Riverain Mall which as the end of it is a good place to take a break. It’s also a short distance from Tenjin.
If you have a favorite coffee shop in Fukuoka, please don’t hesitate to share it with me.
